City of Lakeland Site

Yard Waste

All Star Waste Systems will be delivering new yard waste carts November 2 - 9. There is no charge for these carts. If your normal trash pick-up is on Monday, your yard waste will be collected on Wednesday; if your pick-up day is on Tuesday, your yard waste will be collected on Thursday; and if your pick-up day is Wednesday, your yard waste will be collected on Friday.

Watch your mail for a "Solid Waste" newsletter that gives complete information or contact the City of Lakeland at 867-2717.

Large piles of yard waste cannot be placed under overhead obstructions such as power lines or trees. Large amounts of yard waste must be placed at least six feet away from obstructions such as mailboxes, water meters, trees or shrubs.

Limbs or brush will not be picked up if less than 2 feet in length, larger than 10 inches in diameter, or left by a contractor.

Note: If your scheduled collection day falls on or after a holiday, collection will be delayed by one day.

Automotive Waste Collection Day scheduled November 12, 2009


An Automotive Waste Collection Day is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 12, 2009 at the Shelby County Household Hazardous Waste Facility at 6305 Haley Road.

Shelby County residents (no businesses) are encouraged take this opportunity to properly dispose of used motor oil, gas, automotive batteries, anti-freeze, and transmission fluids.

This is a American Recycles Day Event sponsored by the Shelby County Public Works Division (Environmental Programs). Call 901 379-4439 for additional information.

The Shelby County Household Hazardous Waste Facility is a joint effort by Shelby County and the Cities of Lakeland, Memphis, Germantown, Collierville, Millington, Arlington and Bartlett.

Use of this facility is limited to residents of Shelby County for residential disposal only.
